Blending the genius of Rabelais – the creator of words –, winemaking and the art of living, this is an exciting visit and a bucolic break. The only museum devoted to this major figure of French literature, this ever-changing museum is made up of a remarkable group of highly evocative buildings – 15th-century lodge, dovecote-barn, vast cellar, winegrower's house, etc. – surrounded by a garden, orchard and vines. The many hiking paths around La Devinière allow visitors to explore the countryside dotted with woods, fields and vines, following in the footsteps of Gargantua. Exhibitions, children's trail, workshops, tasting tours and more.
